Overview

Zorina Chen is a PhD candidate conducting research on how individuals advance in their careers, with a focus on professional services organizations and high-skilled labor markets.

Driven by a particular interest in university-to-workplace transitions and labor-market pipelines, Zorina uses quantitative and qualitative methods in her dissertation to examine how pipeline programs—such as pre-professional clubs on college campuses—operate as entry-level labor-market intermediaries that shape students’ career outcomes and trajectories. In another stream of work, Zorina studies the mobility and innovation output of scientists in universities and industry.

Prior to joining Wharton, Zorina received her undergraduate degree from Northwestern University, where she majored in Sociology and Political Science.
